Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date Ref. 1505 Taupe Dial

This is a Rolex reference you surely do not see every day. 🤷🏻 The 1505 Oyster Perpetual Date can be recognized by its engine turned like gold bezel. While many listings online suggest that this is 18K gold, it actually is 14K gold. That is also the reason why these 1505s are often very oxidized on the bezel. More copper in the alloy means a higher possibility of oxidation. Besides the bezel, these 1505s can also house unique dials just like this taupe one with the big triangular indices. It is just unlike anything out there. The colour is stunning in combination with the gold bezel, what. a. dial.. Fun fact, they actually had to fit smaller hands from factory, so that they would not get stuck on the high indices. This exact 1505 from 1969 has been very well taken care of. The bracelet is a new 19mm oyster bracelet, the clasp is still stiff even.😅The crown and hands are also replaced for new examples. I suspect that the watch has been serviced by a Rolex Service Center, since these are standard things they change when aged. No paperwork of that however, but it would all just make sense.
