A fair question, and they're closer than we'd like. Shortest version: the Farm Peg Puzzle is the easiest to start with, because the pegs give small fingers something to hold. This one is the one to pick if you want named animals and pieces that stand up and get played with off the board. The Chunky Barn Shape Puzzle has a barn-shaped board and line drawings rather than a colour scene underneath, which makes the matching slightly harder. All three are wooden, FSC and rated from a year. The box says 1 to 3 years. Is that really all the use I'll get? That's the window in which the puzzling is the right level of difficulty — by three, seven chunky pieces won't hold anyone's attention. But the animals are the part that outlasts the board: they stand up, they get carried about, and they end up in a farm on the rug long after the puzzle itself is easy. We'd rather quote the packaging honestly than pretend it's a toy for five-year-olds. Will a one-year-old manage it?
