Acetobacter

Acetobacter is an aerobic, nitrogen-fixing bacterium that colonizes roots, stems, and leaves of sugar-rich crops like sugarcane. It fixes atmospheric nitrogen within plant tissues and produces organic acids along with growth hormones such as IAA and gibberellins. These activities promote strong root development, improve phosphate availability, and enhance nutrient and water uptake. As a result, crops show better growth, higher sugar recovery, and improved overall performance. It can fix around 8–16 kg nitrogen per acre, reducing the need for chemical fertilizers by up to 25%.
