Sarracenia minor var. okefenokeensis - Hooded Pitcher Plant
Sarracenia minor var. okefenokeensis is a species of American Pitcher Plant that is primarily found in bogs throughout northern Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas. This plant is known for its unique domed hood, which uses light to disorient its prey. The okeefenokensis variety can be found in the Okeefenokee swamp region of southern Georgia, where it tends to grow larger than other varieties. These plants are commonly found floating on mats of live sphagnum moss. Skill Level: Easy. Light: Min 3 hours direct sun, max all day. Water: Fill tray, keep in water at all times. Dormancy: New leaves stop forming during the colder months and old leaves will slowly die off. Pot Size 15cm (2L). Please note some Sarracenia are very large in size and leaves will have to be bent or cut down to fit in smaller boxes. Leaves grow quickly so you don't need to worry about losing some. Larger orders mean larger boxes. If you need your plant to arrive at full height please message me after ordering to discuss shipping options. Bare root option is available to save on shipping, as the pots are 2kg each. Please message me if you wish to go this route, but take note you need special soil types to replant on arrival as they live in moss or peat, not potting soil. Growing instructions can be found here: The last pictures are of the parent plants to show you what they can grow into. *Please note: All plants are unique, photos are used as examples only. You will receive one of the same type and similar condition and size to the one shown here.
