PAPUA NEW GUINEA - ARUSHA [FILTER]
We recommend this lot for filter Origin Jiwaka, Papua New Guinea Altitude 1,200-1,800 meters Process Washed Variety Arusha Producer Smallholders Tasting Notes Pear, Hazelnut, White Chocolate This coffee comes from Kindeng, in the heart of the Waghi Valley, within the Jiwaka province, one of Papua New Guinea's most important coffee-growing regions. Surrounded by mountains, fertile volcanic soils, and altitudes between 1,200 and 1,800 meters, the area offers ideal conditions for growing traditional Arabica varieties such as Typica, Arusha, and Bourbon. Local production depends almost entirely on small family farmers, who combine traditional practices—such as manual harvesting of ripe cherries—with community projects aimed at improving quality, traceability, and the consolidation of differentiated lots for the specialty market. The producers of Kindeng work in an environment of great natural wealth, near the Wara Tuman River, which brings nutrient-rich water from the volcanic mountains. Through cooperatives and training programs, good agricultural practices, environmental management, farm improvement, and organic pest control are promoted. Harvested cherries are delivered to the Kindeng wet mill, where they are pulped, fermented, and processed to obtain parchment coffee. Subsequently, the parchment is transported to the Monpi dry mill in Hagen for final processing and obtaining green coffee.
