Scaly male fern

The native Scaly Male fern (Dryopteris affinis) is a robust, clump-forming fern with upright fronds that unfurl in a vivid bright green which darken as they age. The stems are characterised by brown scales. Commonly found in woodlands, hedgerows and stream banks, it thrives in cool, damp, part-shaded conditions — though once established, it’s tolerant of dry shade and some sunshine too. 1 litre pot
