Rudraksha Mala Medium – 108 Beads (⌀ 8 mm) This mala consists of 108 genuine Rudraksha seeds, each 8 mm in diameter, with a total weight of approximately 25 grams. Rudraksha are the dried seeds of the fruits of the Elaeocarpus tree, native mainly to Nepal, India, and Tibet. Each seed has natural grooves – called Mukhi or facets – which you can clearly see in the photos: this rough, lively surface is not a flaw, but a sign of genuine nature. With an 8 mm diameter, this mala feels a little fuller in the hand than the smaller version – the beads are clearly palpable, both during meditation and when quietly worn. The red silk tassel at the end marks the guru bead, the starting point of each round. Meaning & Tradition In Tibet and throughout the Himalayan region, the mala is as much a part of daily life as the morning prayer itself. 108 is a sacred number – it stands for the 108 worldly desires in Buddhism, but also for the completeness of the circle that always closes. With each bead, you recite a mantra, a wish, a breath. I often tell my customers: it's not about doing it perfectly. It's about getting started. Rudraksha have been considered particularly powerful meditation beads for centuries – they are said to calm the mind, strengthen concentration, and provide a protective energy around the wearer. Whether you believe this or not: simply touching the rough, warm surface has a deeply grounding effect. Care & Use Rudraksha seeds prefer to be dry – avoid moisture and soap, never immerse in water. Occasionally rub with a drop of coconut or sesame oil to prevent the wood from drying out and to keep the surface beautiful. Store the mala in its brocade pouch when not in use – this protects it and preserves its energy. For meditation: hold the mala in your right hand, thumb and middle finger guide the beads – the index finger is traditionally left out.
