1990s Bellville Sasson Pink Sequinned Tulle Ruffle Layer Gown
British couture house Bellville Sassoon was founded in 1953 by Belinda Bellville and provided Parisian style fashion in the heart of London for aristocrats and debutantes. Designer David Sassoon joined the company in 1958 and in 1970 the company was renamed Bellville Sassoon. Lorcan Mullany joined in 1987 having worked for Bill Gibb and Hardy Amies as an occasion wear designer. Made in England, this fairy tale gown is tailored from ruffled layers of baby pink polka-dot tulle. The top is sleeveless with a V-neckline at the front and back. The neckline is decadently trimmed with a double row of tonal baby pink beads. The dress has a dropped waistline and, below this, the layers of ruffles start. Each ruffle is detailed with silver and holographic sequins, gradually more heavily applied towards the outer hem. The hem of each ruffle is finished with a row of baby pink beads. The bust and rear of the gown are also smothered in silver sequins. The dress is lined with a layer of polka-dot tulle and there is a boned, pink satin corset at the bust which gives way to a pink satin slip inside the skirt. It fastens up at the back with a tonal pink zip. This dress is in excellent vintage condition and has been very well preserved with no issues. The tulle is labelled 100% Nylon with a lining of 100% Silk. It is a size UK 14, US 10 but would also suit a size smaller - please pay attention to our measurements below. MEASUREMENTS BUST - 36 in.
