Mansalto Castello Rapale IGT Toscana 2022 Tuscany's Super Tuscan spirit, born from a medieval castle — bold, structured, and built for the cellar as much as the table. Grape Varietals & Region: A predominance of Cabernet Sauvignon, combined with 40% Sangiovese and Merlot, from estate vineyards in the municipality of Bucine, Arezzo, Tuscany, Italy — classified as IGT Toscana. Dedicated to the charming medieval castle of the village of Rapale, this wine comes from a single vineyard sitting at approximately 500 metres above sea level. The estate's vineyards sit on sandy schist soils tending to marl, planted at 5,000 vines per hectare — a density that concentrates flavour and drives the wine's remarkable structure Taste Profile: This blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Sangiovese opens with aromas of dark-skinned fruit, tilled earth, and cooking spice. The dense palate offers prune, clove, and cedar alongside taut tannins. Powerful on entry, it opens with hints of fruit before turning to spicy and vanilla notes — rich and complex, with excellent tannic concentration that remains soft and velvety. Rated 90pts by Wine Searcher critics. Best decanted for at least an hour, or cellared for 5–10 years to fully reveal its complexity. Ideal with bistecca alla Fiorentina, braised short rib, or aged hard cheese Winemaking Process: Hand-picked at perfect ripeness, varieties are fermented separately in thermoregulated stainless steel tanks with a maceration period of 20–25 days. Once pressed and racked, the wine ages for 12 months in French barrels and tonneaux before being blended and bottled on site. Ageing for 18 months in barrique gives the wine its complexity and austerity — this is a wine built for the long haul, with oak used as a tool for structure rather than flavour.
