Fire Agate in Rough Signet Ring - Sterling and 14k
Fire agate is a really enjoyable stone to work with, but challenging as well. A talented cutter is needed to bring out the life and full potential in each stone. This often means a stone of irregular shape, no consistent edge or size. Each one generally needs to be hand set in a bespoke ring, made just for that stone. This ring is no exception. I wanted to create a continuation of the bubbly-fire seen in this stone by adding a frame of sterling silver and solid 14k yellow and rose gold droplets. I am really pleased with the overall effect! The hues of the yellow and rose match up well with the earthy tones in the agate. This fire agate was mined in Aguascalientes, Mexico and was cut and carved by Austin Wright. I included photos of the ring in both direct and indirect light. Like most fire agates, this is a bright stone in the sun or other direct lighting, and more muted in low light. This ring was made via the ancient art of sand casting. A rough and semi-unpredictable form of casting. I included a couple of images of the process. This does mean there are a few minor pits on the inside of the ring, but they are very minor, evidence of how it was created. The prongs themselves were strategically placed vent holes for the casting. The ring is not hollowed out. The ring is a size 7 Solid Sterling Silver Solid 14k rose and yellow gold droplets One of a kind, ready to ship! You will receive the exact ring pictured. Cheers, Austin
