Electro-Harmonix Crash Pad ASK US FOR MORE PICTURES The Electro-Harmonix Crash Pad is a reissue of EHX’s original 1980 analog drum synth pedal, designed to create everything from electronic percussion to resonant filter sweeps and noise effects. It can generate sounds internally or process external audio through its resonant low-pass filter, making it useful for experimental music, post-punk, industrial, ambient, and sound design. Key Features Analog Drum Synth Engine: Produces a wide range of percussion-style sounds including cymbals, snares, hi-hats, tom-like hits, and synth sweeps. Trigger Options: Can be activated via the built-in push button, an external (non-MIDI) drum pad, or clock/sequencer devices. External Audio Processing: Accepts incoming audio through the AUX IN and runs it through the resonant filter section for creative shaping. Expression / CV Control: EXP/CV input allows real-time filter sweep control via expression pedal or control voltage source. Analog Filter Controls: Dedicated Start, Stop, Time, Resonance, Decay, and Volume knobs provide deep shaping of the sound envelope and sweep behavior. Controls & Workflow START / STOP: Define the beginning and end frequencies of the sweep. TIME: Adjusts how quickly the filter travels between frequencies. RESONANCE: Controls filter intensity (Q), from subtle to self-oscillating. DECAY: Sets how long the triggered sound fades out. SENS Switch: Adjusts trigger sensitivity for external sources. Specs Circuit: Analog Audio: Mono Power: 9.6VDC adapter included (optional 9V battery support) Current Draw: 22mA Dimensions: 4.75" × 4" × 2.25" Release Year: 2015 reissue What It’s Good For The Crash Pad is especially interesting if you like weird percussion textures, noisy resonant hits, or vintage synth percussion. It pairs well with modular gear, sequencers, and drum machines for experimental rhythms or harsh industrial sounds. Since you’re into sound design and electroacoustic stuff, this is the kind of pedal that can get very “broken machine” or metallic resonant textures, especially when externally triggered or fed guitar/synth signals.
