peregrine shawl

Worked in our airy wool/alpaca blend, Plover, designer Kirsten Joel presents her Peregrine Shawl. Drawing inspiration from the swift, graceful flight of the peregrine falcon found along the coastal tide marshes of Charleston, the shawl is the perfect piece for cool mornings outdoors, windswept walks, and moments spent close to nature. The lace motif echoes layered feathers in motion, while the shawl's wing-like shaping captures the beauty of the natural world. The shawl begins at a narrow edge and utilizes increases to incorporate the lace pattern as it expands to its full width. Decreases are then used to shape the second half, creating a finished construction that mirrors a bird's wingspan.
