Shaking Hand - The Shining
Digital Download Shaking Hand follow up their acclaimed debut with a glistening cover of Badly Drawn Boy's The Shining, to announce a 17 date EU tour. Paying homage to an often overlooked time in Manchester’s music scene, the band turn the original's swelling brass & strings into blissful post-rock guitars. The track pulls back to the bands earliest inspirations as children in the car back seat, as George explains. "Badly Drawn Boy is an important artist for me and Fred as he frequently soundtracked a lot of our younger lives, long car journeys in particular. The Hour of Bewilderbeast is an album I still come back to and has probably had the most longevity in our lives so I've always wanted to cover a song from this album. We didn't just want to cover that was just a re hash of the original and with the Shining we could instantly put our own spin on by changing the instrumentation. It's nice to play a song from an era of Manchester music that can sometimes feel overlooked because the music wasn't all maracas and bucket hats." It's already made all of the bands' Dads cry and had the seal of approval from B.D.B himself, and comes alongside the announcement of a debut European tour in November 2026. The tour crosses Northern Europe and back and is headlined by the band’s biggest headlines to date at Manchester’s The White Hotel and Brixton’s Club Cheek. The artwork is entitled ‘QTH 73’ by Brighton based artist Max Mitchell. Shaking Hand are George Hunter (Vocals, Guitar), Freddie Hunter (Drums) & Ellis Hodgkiss (Bass).
