I unexpectedly fell in love with this Charles X period ormolu figural clock. This example stands out for its restraint and quality, and the pose of the figure is so cool - relaxed, balanced, and confident. The gilt bronze retains a rich, original surface with an interplay of matte and burnished finishes. The figure is particularly well modeled, with fluid drapery and that natural ease not often found. The architectural case is clean and composed, allowing the sculpture to lead. White enamel dial with Roman numerals and blued steel hands in the Breguet style.
