6 Week Wheel Throwing October 8th-November 12th 6-8pm

Welcome to our Pottery Wheel Throwing Course, where we'll embark on a six-session journey filled with clay and creativity! This course is designed for anyone eager to dive into the wonderful world of pottery, whether you're a total newbie or just looking to brush up on your skills. This class takes place every Thursday on October 8th- November 12th from 6-8pm 6-Week Wheel Throwing Course Week 1: Getting Started on the Wheel We’ll go over the whole process from start to finish. Centering, opening, pulling walls all of it. Expect things to feel a little awkward at first, that’s part of it. Week 2: Trimming + Mugs You’ll learn how to trim your pieces and start focusing on making mug bodies. This is where things start to click a bit more. Week 3: Handles + Spoon Rests We’ll attach handles to your mugs and work on pulling them so they actually feel good to hold. You’ll also throw spoon rests on the wheel, which are a great smaller form to practice control. Week 4: Practice + Small Pieces More time on the wheel, working on consistency. You’ll make a ring dish and a citrus juicer while continuing to build confidence. Week 5: Bud Vases Last week of throwing. We’ll make bud vases and focus on cleaning up your forms and making pieces you’re really happy with. Week 6: Glazing You’ll glaze everything you’ve made. We’ll walk through how to apply glaze so your pieces come out how you want them. What to Wear / Bring Clay gets everywhere, so wear something you don’t mind getting dirty and that you can comfortably lean forward in. Short sleeves or sleeves you can push up help. It’s best to leave rings and bracelets at home, and trim your nails beforehand if you can they tend to get in the way more than you’d think. Cant make it to one of the practice sessions? Not a problem- you can stop by the studio during open hours to make up that time on the wheel! All glaze and clay included. This class is best suited for ages 16 and up. Let's get our hands dirty!
