Ginger Ale NNK Style Popcorn
Montross, Virginia is a small town in the Northern Neck and is the birthplace of Northern Neck Ginger Ale. Created by Arthur Carver in 1926, this gingerale like no other, has a sharp distinctive ginger flavor. The gingerale was made with fresh artisian well water, and ginger extract. Coca-Cola bought the gingerale in 2001 and moved production to Sandston, Virginia. Sadly, the pandemic brought about a halt in the production of the soda, of which there is none to compare. The company has recently stated that the flavor will not be produced again, much to the chagrin of it's huge cult like following. There is much effort being put into attempts to reverse this decision from boycotts to social media efforts. I currently have 2 cans hidden in my fridge with a "Do Not Drink" sign on them. I recently found out my Mom has three cans! It's like finding gold!!! Growing up, nothing would settle an upset stomach quicker than a cold can of Northern Neck Ginger Ale and a package of saltines. When I opened Northern Neck Popcorn Bag, I knew I had to create a popcorn flavor based on this beloved favorite. My recipe includes real ginger as well and I'm told tastes just like the drink, minus the fizz of course. You'll also find this flavor in our NNK Mix! Chicago may have their Chicago Mix, but we have our NNK Mix! A mix of Crabby Corn and our NNK Gingerale popcorn! It's a must try!
