Half-Zip Sleeve Jacket Design Notes The Nusu-Zip Koti: I was inspired to design through a continued exploration of form and function — centered around the idea of transformation and modular utility. From the sketch stage, I wanted the garment to separate at the forearm, allowing the silhouette of the jacket to shift through wear and movement. Short sleeve jackets are common in Tanzania, and spending my youth there during the summers planted the early idea that eventually found its way into this piece. The elongated body structure references traditional coats and utility uniforms, while the asymmetrical pocket placement and exposed zipper detailing introduce a more industrial and technical energy throughout the garment. I wanted the exterior to still feel controlled and minimal, so the front closure was concealed through structured paneling while the utility pockets were integrated in a way that balanced function with restraint.
