About The Wine From one of Juliénas' benchmark family estates, Domaine du Clos du Fief's 2024 Tradition is a beautifully expressive Cru Beaujolais that captures the charm and character of the vintage. Bursting with juicy raspberry, wild strawberry and mulberry fruit, it is lifted by delicate floral notes of rose petal and a subtle mineral edge. Silky and vibrant on the palate, the wine combines freshness and finesse with fine tannins and a savoury spice that lingers through the finish. Equally at home lightly chilled or served alongside charcuterie, roast chicken or mushroom dishes, this is classic Beaujolais at its most drinkable and refined. The fruit is hand harvested from 60-year-old vineyards on stony, ancient alluvial soil, facing southeast. Indigenous yeasts, 10-day semi-carbonic maceration. During elevage, there is only concrete used. Domaine du Clos du Fief does not use oak in any of their wines, keeping them more compact and concentrated without losing vitality. About Domaine du Clos du Fief Domaine du Clos du Fief is run by the father-son team of Michel and Sylvain Tête. This is a rare 4th generation Cru estate in Juliénas and Jullié, based at the far Northwest sector of Beaujolais. The vines are grown on the high altitude hillsides of Juliénas and Jullié with their roots in granite rich soil. Michel took over in 1978 after studying in Beaune, where he learned many techniques that he now uses on his own wines to great acclaim. Sylvain returned to work with his father in 2014 and they produce wines that use traditional methods as well as bringing modern techniques to move with the times. In the vineyards they have low yields and use meticulous farming methods that together with their winemaking results in serious and mouthwatering examples of terroir driven reds.
