The Mexican Shop en Plein Air
I painted some of the mannequins in the window of "The Mexican Shop" on Dempster Street in Downtown Evanston during last year's Plein Air Festival (2025). I toned my panel red and enjoyed layering complementary colors such as the green in the trees on top to make them pop. I also painted the lime green of the Thai Restaurant next door. I teach figure drawing and imagined that the mannequins were real people. The perspective of the little purse was fun to think about, and I also suggested some reflections in the window.
