Double Up June's Whisky 2026

Returning for our second collaboration with Chief’s Son, this release showcases the distillery’s malt-first approach and deep connection to the Mornington Peninsula. Family-run by Stuart and Naomi McIntosh, Chief’s Son is known for building flavour from the grain up, combining technical precision with hands-on craft. For this Barrel Lane release, Chief’s Son has drawn from its early in-house Apera cask program, using French oak casks sourced from nearby Dromana Estate Winery. Previously used for wine, then seasoned with Chief’s Son’s own fortified Apera and reworked with a heavy toast and char, these casks have helped shape a rich, sherried single malt with depth and structure. The result is a beautifully layered whisky, with almond, apricot and marzipan on the nose, followed by sweet fruit, roasted nuts, baked toffee and creamy butterscotch on the palate. A long, smooth finish carries mellow spice, soft oak and a subtle touch of leather.
