The centrepiece is the lavallière collar, a romantic and deeply French flourish reinterpreted here in a crisp white print with trailing floral stems in mauve pink and sagebrush green. The collar cascades from the neckline in two elegant panels fastening into a loose bow upon the chest with effortless, garden-party grace. The same floral print fabric reappears at the waist as a structured belt, tying the entire composition together with a considered and charming symmetry. The hand-smocking at the centre of the waist is worked in tones that bridge the pink of the dress and the print of the collar. Below, the skirt falls in full, sweeping gathers, the bright pink cotton swirling magnificently with every step. Self-covered buttons fasten neatly at the back.
