Oil Painting with Ricky: Fundamentals, Approaches and Techniques * 7 Mondays 12:30 PM - 3:30 PM * November 2 - December 14, 2026

Ages: Adults (Ages 16+) Dates: 7 Mondays, November 2, 9, 16, 23, 30, December 7 & 14, 2026. Time: 12:30 PM - 3:30 PM Materials: Students must come to class with their own painting kit and canvases. Canvases are available to purchase at the studio. Location: Ricky Schaede Art Studio, 5 First St Unit 3A, Orangeville ON L9W 1E1 Instructor: Ricky Schaede Oil Painting with Ricky: Fundamentals, Approaches and Techniques: Learn about oil painting with Ricky, exploring every step of the painting process from initial sketch to transferring the sketch onto the canvas, applying a coloured ground, applying initial layers, impasto effects, blending, detailing, texturing, finishing, varnishing and more. We will create at least one highly detailed finished work with a subject of the group's choosing and also do a variety of exercises and skills building along the way. The style of painting I teach will take your strong foundation in drawing and translate that into full colour oil painting with beautiful brush strokes and textures. Creativity will be encouraged and, after our first finished painting where we all create a painting of the same subject, students will get to create a second painting with their own choice of subject matter with 1 on 1 guidance from Ricky. Oil painting will impart a looser, freer painting style and help break tight artists out of their comfort zone. MATERIALS LIST: (Coming soon!)
