FINE ROMAN PROSTITUTE'S RING, C.100-300 AD, SIZE 4
Gilt bronze, size 4. Deeply rounded face band, 3.5mm width. Bezel of ribbed faceted conical form with central nub (perhaps an anatomical reference). Superficially imitating a gemstone and blatantly advertising the intentions of the wearer. Roman prostitutes were typically adolescents, largely slaves. Prostitution was practiced openly with brothels sometimes sharing doors with libraries. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold surface restored. Jewelry gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
