Dendrobium Newbold Regalsheen 'Sunshine' × speciosum 'Travis' is an Australian native Dendrobium seedling cross (cross number 5874). Newbold Regalsheen 'Sunshine' is a kingianum-alliance hybrid with olive-yellow flowers and distinctive red-brown spotting; D. speciosum 'Travis' is a selected cultivar of the rock orchid known for its strong constitution and typical speciosum flower form. The photographs show the parent plants. Individual seedlings will vary in flower colour and form. What to expect Flowering: Spring. Long spikes carrying multiple flowers, reflecting the speciosum parentage. Flowers: Expected yellow to olive with variable red-brown spotting and lip contrast drawing on both parents. Individual plants will vary. Plant: Robust, larger than standard kingianum hybrids. Forms spreading clumps over time with the characteristic growth habit of D. speciosum. Growing notes Temperature: Cool to intermediate. Hardy and cold-tolerant when established. A cool winter dry rest supports spring flowering. Light: Full sun to bright filtered light. The speciosum parentage increases light and heat tolerance. Water: Regular through the growing season; restrict through winter rest.
