Striped Agate Hand-Forged Sterling Silver Pendant

This one-of-a-kind pendant features a naturally striped agate set in hand-forged sterling silver. Across the upper portion of the cabochon, bands of white and light earthy brown create a layered pattern before gradually transitioning into deep black toward the bottom. A clean straight bezel frames the stone without distracting from its natural contrast and distinctive banding. Built entirely at the bench in our Adirondack studio, this pendant keeps the silverwork restrained, allowing the unusual pattern within the agate to define the piece. Form & Proportion Measuring approximately 1.5 inches in length, the pendant has enough presence to showcase the changing colors within the stone while maintaining a versatile scale. The strongest visual element is the transition within the agate itself—from lighter white and brown striations across the upper half into the nearly solid black lower portion. The simple sterling silver setting provides a clean perimeter around this naturally graphic pattern. Materials & Method Built from solid sterling silver, the pendant is formed, soldered, and refined entirely at the bench. A straight bezel is individually shaped around the agate cabochon, creating a secure setting with crisp, understated lines. The simplicity of the metalwork is intentional, placing the emphasis on the natural banding and tonal transition within the stone.
