Elodie Balme farms organically and works with old vines rooted in clay-limestone soils, giving the wine both depth and lift. Her approach in the cellar is minimal and thoughtful, with gentle extraction, native yeast fermentation, and restrained elevage, allowing the site and vintage to speak clearly. Her Cotes du Rhone bottling is an excellent example of the appellation. Juicy, fresh, round, and delicious. Fruits of warm cherry and wild raspberry and plum show with white pepper, garrigue, and Mediterranean herbs. Where you really detect her unique style for the Rhone is in the precision and elegance that shows in this wine.
