Canalicchio di Sopra’s Brunello di Montalcino brings together, in equal measure, the estate’s two defining terroirs: Canalicchio and Montosoli. The depth and breadth of Canalicchio’s clay-rich soils are balanced by the mineral tension and finesse of Montosoli’s galestro, giving the wine both substance and lift. In 2021, naturally low yields and a September marked by pronounced diurnal temperature shifts allowed the grapes to reach full phenolic maturity while retaining remarkable freshness and acidity. The result is a floral, balsamic and deeply mineral Brunello, where concentration and structure are expressed with precision, poise and elegance. Still youthful and vibrant, it possesses the depth and balance to evolve beautifully over many years.
