In October, Wilame Lima builds a deep blue pictorial field through dense, finely worked marks that hold the surface in the darkness. Small points of light gather across the painting like a constellation, while the surrounding layers remain deliberately indeterminate, without fixing the scene to a recognisable landscape or sky. The work’s compact scale intensifies this concentration: the viewer encounters a contained field whose spatial depth emerges gradually through tonal variation, texture, and the placement of luminous marks. Part of the Apocalypse series, the painting reflects Lima’s interest in atmospheric reduction and in the point at which a place becomes perceptible before it can be fully identified.
