Bring your Panzer IV or StuG III/IV interior to life with this highly detailed ammunition and spent casing set, based on the 7.5 cm KwK 40 — the workhorse anti-tank gun of the German panzer divisions. Featuring four distinct projectile types plus accurately marked spent casings, this set is designed for turret basket dioramas, ready racks, and battle-damage scenes where authenticity matters. Kit Contents Pzgr. 39 APCBC x10 – armor-piercing, capped ballistic cap Pzgr. 40 APCR x10 – tungsten-core sub-caliber round Gr. 38 HEAT x10 – shaped-charge anti-tank round Spr.Gr. 34 HE x10 – high-explosive round Spent casings x20 – 75x495mm R The KwK 40 entered service in 1942 to give German armour a fighting chance against the T-34 and KV-1. The Pzgr. 39 APCBC was the standard round — its soft cap gripped angled armour while the ballistic cap preserved velocity at range, detonating via a delayed base fuze. When tungsten supply allowed, crews carried the Pzgr. 40 APCR for close-range shots against the heaviest enemy tanks, trading range for raw penetration. The Gr. 38 HEAT offered a chemical-energy alternative that penetrated just as well at 100m as at 2,000m, making it a reliable backup. For soft targets — gun crews, bunkers, trucks — the Spr.Gr. 34 HE’s 450g Amatol filler did the job. Spent casings were tossed onto the turret floor or thrown clear to keep the crew compartment free of toxic propellant fumes during sustained engagements. Painting Tips Pzgr. 39 APCBC: satin black body, white “Pzgr. 39” stencil, thin red ring above the driving band Pzgr. 40 APCR: matt black body, white “Pzgr. 40” stencil, white line marking the tungsten core boundary Gr. 38 HEAT: field grey or black body, white “Gr. 38 Hl/B” stencil, wide white band at the nose cone Spr.Gr. 34 HE: olive green or ordnance yellow body (black stencil on yellow, white on green), thin red ring below a silver nose fuze Casings: late-war steel — dull greenish-grey or Parkerized grey with white base stamp; early/mid-war brass — polished brass/gold with stamped “6340” code
