Thompson Bros Auchentoshan 28 Year Old Scotch Whisky

Thompson Bros Auchentoshan 28 Year Old Scotch Whisky was filled into two red wine barriques way back in 1998 and left to mature before being bottled in July 2026 with 379 bottles produced. Nose: Elegant and layered, with aromas of ripe red berries, stewed orchard fruits and soft vanilla. Notes of honey, orange peel and dried apricot are complemented by hints of dark cherries, floral honey and polished oak. The wine cask influence introduces subtle touches of redcurrant, cocoa and delicate baking spices without overwhelming the distillery’s light, triple-distilled character. Palate: Smooth and well-structured, offering flavours of poached pear, baked apple and vanilla custard alongside red berry compote and gentle caramel sweetness. The wine casks contribute notes of plum, raspberry and dark chocolate, balanced by cinnamon, clove and refined oak tannins. The spirit remains light and approachable, with a creamy texture and well-integrated fruit. Finish: Long and elegant, with lingering notes of sweet oak, dried fruits and soft spice. Hints of cocoa, orange zest and red berries gradually fade into gentle vanilla and toasted almonds, leaving a balanced and satisfying conclusion.
