Hugh Hamilton have embraced that, and the result is The Mongrel: a Sangiovese that feels like it’s finally living its best life. Somewhere between “basket-on-a-tablecloth” nostalgia and the modern rediscovery of the grape, this is a wine that’s light on its feet but still assertive — bright, savoury, and full of personality.
