Light Blue Striped Poplin Shirt

A single light-blue stripe on white: the cleanest, most classic striped shirt there is, the first a man should own and the last he stops wearing. From a distance it reads almost solid; up close it resolves into one crisp, even stripe. Perfect under a navy or grey suit, just as at ease open at the collar with chinos. The cloth is 120/2 poplin, an Italian double-twist cotton with two yarns twisted on both warp and weft, roughly 40% denser than single-yarn poplin. Crisp, cool to wear and structured enough to hold a press through hundreds of washes. Buttons are 3 mm-thick mother-of-pearl, never plastic. Handmade in our own workshop in Aielli, Abruzzo, where the Cordone family has made shirts since 1956, now in its third generation. Five steps by hand: giromanica, shoulder, front placket, bar tack and the hand-stitched buttonhole, 15-20 minutes per buttonhole. Shifted sleeve (manica spostata) as standard.
