Mille Movie Club - Stealing Beauty - August 24th

A Tuscan summer on the big screen, with special guests Hermine. We've been saving this one for the end of summer. Stealing Beauty (1996, dir. Bernardo Bertolucci) is sun-warmed stone, wildflower fields, a killer soundtrack, one of my favorite dresses in all of cinema, and a fever dream of a party in a palazzo. It's the kind of film that makes you want to wear white linen and mean it. It'd been on my list for ages. Then Lilly at Hermine suggested the same one, completely unprompted, and that settled it. She owns the vintage shop at 323 N 1st Ave, she's a serious cinephile, and she's bringing racks to the theater for the night. In her words: "Hermine will be bringing a romantic summer wardrobe inspired by long afternoons in Tuscany: flowing dresses and skirts, airy linen trousers and blouses, and silk scarves. Think blushing colors, natural fabrics, and pieces that feel effortless."
