Vintage Japanese Fabric Monkey Kimekomi good luck doll

A sweet vintage Kimekomi monkey doll. A symbol of good fortune, figures like this would often be given on festivals and new years. Kimekomi dolls are made by first constructing a wooden form with carved grooves. The fabric is then wrapped and tucked into the grooves creating the creases and separation. They are wonderful 3d dimensional fabric sculptures. We found this one in Osaka on our recent trip. Measures 13.5cm long x 7cm wide x 10.5cm tall
