Larvikite Stone Box

An eye-catching box made from Larvikite. Originally used as a cigarette box, the interior of the lid and base are black Agate. A gilt metal hinge joins the top and bottom sections. Commonly known in the stone industry as Blue Pearl Granite, it's correct geological classification is Larvikite, an intrusive igneous rock. It is primarily composed of large feldspar crystals, specifically labradorite, rather than the quartz found in true granites. The characteristic light blue and silver shimmering iridescent flashes are caused by light reflecting off layers within the feldspar crystals. Dimensions: 18 cm/7 inches (length) x 9.75 cm/3⅞ inches (depth) x 3.5 cm/1⅜ inches (height).
