8538 Pioneer RT-707 Auto Reverse Direct Drive Reel-to-Reel Tape Deck — Great Condition | Serviced and Calibrated | Fully Checked The Pioneer RT-707 is a 4-head, 3-motor open reel tape deck from the late 1970s, widely regarded as one of the finest reel-to-reel decks Pioneer produced for the domestic market. At its heart is an AC Servo direct-drive capstan motor, eliminating the belt-driven capstan found in many decks of the period and delivering excellent rotational stability with wow and flutter rated at no more than 0.05% WRMS. Two further 8-pole inner-rotor induction motors handle reel take-up and rewind. The RT-707 accepts 7″ reels and offers dual-speed operation (19cm/sec and 9.5cm/sec), auto reverse on playback, and independent left/right recording with mixing between mic and line sources.
