Location: Washington Printmakers Gallery, 1675 Wisconsin Avenue Northwest Washington, DC 20007 Class Description: Have you ever wanted to draw the world around you and not sure where to start? This class will help students learn how draw from observation using historical techniques such as comparative measurement, introduce students to the core principles of composition, and teach students how to simplify complex forms to make drawing them less difficult. Syllabus Week 1 Still Life: Introduce Comparative Measurement Week 2 Still Life: Understanding hard and soft edges Week 3 Portraiture with a Live Model: Basic anatomy Week 4 Portraiture with a Live Model: Eyes, Nose, and Mouth Cost: $200 Participants: 9 Level: Adult, Beginers Supplies: All supplies included Bio: About William William Demaria is a Baltimore based artist who has always loved drawing and traditional oil painting. He finds the process of creating artwork itself to be beautiful and has always been interested in studying the way artwork is made. He believes that every student, no matter their skill level, has an individual voice that should be developed.
