The Russel Wright Collection

Designed in 1941 by Russel Wright, these pieces come from the American Craft Collection—a body of work created to make well-designed, durable furniture for everyday American homes. Each piece is made in the United States by Old Hickory Furniture using solid hickory, a native hardwood chosen for its strength, flexibility, and distinctive character. Hickory is steam-bent and shaped by hand, producing natural variation in grain, tone, and curvature. No two pieces are exactly alike, and that individuality is a celebrated part of the design. The finish remains intentionally straightforward, following the same approach used when the collection was first introduced. The wood is allowed to show its natural color and surface variation, developing character through use rather than concealment. These pieces were designed to be lived with, repaired if needed, and kept in service for decades.
