ADV Tactical Badlands Bowie 2 Custom Mokume – Damascus

Damascus and Mokume transform this Badlands Bowie 2 into one of the more visually striking builds of Andre de Villiers’ oversized tactical folder. Satin titanium provides a restrained foundation for the warmer tones of the Mokume, while the patterned blade gives the entire knife a much more exotic presence. The striking 4.00″ Damascus blade carries the Badlands’ broad Bowie profile with a flat grind and prominent machined fuller. The etched pattern moves across nearly every surface of the blade, revealing dramatically different patterning between the primary bevel, flats, and fuller. The combination of broad flowing lines and tighter layered patterns gives the blade tremendous visual depth, with the appearance shifting noticeably as it moves through the light. Deployment comes by way of the flipper and bearing-driven pivot system. The large flipper tab gives plenty of leverage over the 4.00″ blade, while the heavily machined titanium construction gives the knife the unmistakable mechanical presence associated with Andre de Villiers’ larger folders. The handle pairs satin titanium with Mokume inlays composed of brass, copper, and nickel. The combination produces flowing layers of copper, gold, and silvery tones across both sides of the handle, creating a dramatic contrast against the satin titanium. As the Mokume naturally develops a patina over time, its color and appearance will continue to evolve. Recessed bead-blasted sections introduce darker accents throughout the frame, while the oversized hardware and exposed structural elements retain the industrial character of the design. A titanium frame lock with a steel lockbar insert secures the blade. The titanium pocket clip combines bead-blasted surfaces with machined satin flats, adding another subtle level of contrast while retaining the Badlands’ versatile multi-position carry arrangement. A matching Mokume inlay set into the titanium backspacer carries the same flowing pattern through the spine of the knife and completes the presentation from every angle. At 9″ overall and 8.63 ounces, the Badlands Bowie 2 has the size, weight, and physical presence expected from one of ADV’s full-size designs. The combination of Damascus, Mokume, satin titanium, and Andre de Villiers’ aggressively machined construction gives this build a far more elaborate visual character while preserving everything that makes the Badlands unmistakably ADV. For us, it also makes this one of the most impressive Badlands builds we’ve had here to date.
