Osmanthus fragrans var. aurantiacus (Orange Sweet Olive)

Osmanthus fragrans with common names Golden Osmanthus, Sweet Olive, Tea Olive, and Fragrant Olive. It is native to Assam, Cambodia, China, the Himalayas, Hainan, Japan, Myanmar, Taiwan, Nepal, Thailand, and Vietnam. In China it grows in the provinces of Guizhou, Sichuan, Hainan, and Yunnan. Names in other languages include: Kinmokusei (金木犀) in Japan, Mokseo (목서) in Korea, and Dànguì (丹桂) in China. This is the orange of the Sweet Olive with bright orange flowers, about 1 cm long, with a 4-lobed corolla 5mm diameter, and have a strong fragrance; they are produced in small clusters in the late summer and autumn. The fruit is a purple-black drupe 10–15mm long containing a single hard-shelled seed; it is mature in the spring about six months after flowering. In the wild can grow to about 12m tall.
