This circa-1900 Chinese console table pairs unusually long, narrow proportions with an elaborate pierced apron. A warm brown plank top with rounded molded edges sits above openwork carving that combines floral medallions, curving elements and stylized longevity motifs.Carved spandrels join the apron to four slender legs, giving the table an airy architectural quality. Measuring more than six and a half feet long yet only 15 inches deep, it offers generous display space in an entry, behind a sofa or along a dining-room wall without projecting far into the room.
