Narrow sump and pit pump kit for cellars, chambers and confined spaces Around 5,800 litres an hour out of a sump, with the 32mm hose to carry it. This FPS Engineered™ kit pairs the APP RS32EA automatic puddle pump with 10m of 32mm suction and delivery hose and a hose clip. The pump arrives with a hose tail connector and a 10m rubber cable on a 3-pin plug, so the kit completes it and there is nothing else to buy. The RS32EA is the high output option for confined spaces. A slim thermoplastic body goes where a full size drainage pump will not, but behind it sits 130 litres per minute and 7 metres of head, which is close to double what most compact puddle pumps manage. It switches itself on and off on an integral float, and an anti-airlock non-return valve is built into the outlet so it picks up reliably every time. Part of our wider puddle pump, APP, pump kit and submersible pump ranges. At a glance Around 97 litres per minute at a 2m lift: Roughly 5,800 litres an hour through the hose supplied. 32mm outlet and 32mm hose supplied together, so the bore is right and nothing is throttled. Fully automatic: Switches on at 50mm and off at 25mm on an integral float. Anti-airlock non-return valve built in, which is what stops an automatic pump running without pumping. Handles 4mm solids, so it copes with lightly silted water. 160 × 170 × 295mm body, slim enough for a sump or chamber. 10m rubber cable with a 3-pin plug fitted, and a 2 year warranty. What's included 1 × APP RS32EA automatic submersible puddle pump, with hose tail connector and 10m cable 1 × 10m length of 32mm suction and delivery hose 1 × stainless steel hose clip The hose is reinforced suction and delivery rather than layflat, so it holds its shape, will not kink flat in a chamber and can be dragged over rough ground without splitting. What flow will I actually get at my lift? Maximum flow and maximum head are the two ends of a pump curve and you never get both together. The figures below include the friction in the 10m of 32mm hose supplied, so find your vertical lift and read across. Vertical lift Typical situation Estimated flow Per hour 1m Chamber out to a gully just outside Approx. 105 L/min Approx. 6,300 litres 2m Cellar or sump up to ground level Approx. 97 L/min Approx. 5,800 litres 3m Deep chamber up to a yard drain Approx. 88 L/min Approx. 5,300 litres 4m Lower ground up to street level Approx. 78 L/min Approx. 4,700 litres 5m Approaching the working limit Approx. 65 L/min Approx. 3,900 litres Estimated from the published 130 L/min and 7m figures, with hose friction by Hazen-Williams at C=130 across the 10m of 32mm hose supplied. Bends, kinks and worn hose cost a little more. To work out a specific run, use our pump performance calculator. Will it fit my chamber? Measure the narrowest point of your access before you order, not the chamber itself. The pump body is 160 × 170 × 295mm. What usually stops a pump is not the chamber but the opening above it, a cover frame, a benching, or a grating you cannot lift out. Always use a rope attached to the pump to lower into a chamber do not use the power cable. If the access is tighter than that, or the chamber is shallower than about 300mm, look at the Ultra-Compact Sump & Pit Kit with the BPS100EA. It is 26mm narrower, 45mm shorter and 1.8kg lighter, and it takes 25mm hose. It moves about half the water, so only choose it if the RS32EA will not physically go in or you will be lifting the pump in and out regularly. Which narrow pit kit? Two kits, same job, and the choice comes down to whether the pump has to fit a tight space or move a lot of water. Kit Body size Weight Max flow / max head Hose Choose it when RS32EA 160 × 170 × 295mm 3.9kg 130 L/min, 7m 32mm You have the room and want the water gone quickly BPS100EA 134 × 170 × 250mm 2.1kg 70 L/min, 6m 19mm or 25mm Tight access, shallow chamber, or lifting it in and out often The RS32EA is the one to buy if it fits. It moves close to twice the water, and the 32mm bore means the hose is not the thing holding it back. The BPS100EA earns its place on the pumps that have to squeeze in somewhere the RS32EA cannot reach. Sump pits and drainage chambers Cellars, basements and lower ground rooms Inspection chambers and narrow shafts Lift pits and service voids Garages, outbuildings and utility rooms Light trade drainage and clean-up Standby cover in a property that floods occasionally Emptying tanks and water butts Water quality limits Clean to lightly silted water, solids to 4mm. It is not a sewage or trash pump, and it is not recommended for ponds or water features. It is not intended for foul water, salt water, or liquids containing corrosive substances, fats, oils, flammable or explosive material. It does not treat or filter water, so nothing it moves is drinking water. Setting it up Fit the supplied hose tail to the 32mm outlet, push the hose on and secure it with the clip. Reinforced suction and delivery hose is stiffer than layflat, which is what you want in a chamber, because it will not fold shut against a wall. No float to catch. The pump switches on at 50mm and off at 25mm, and in a tight chamber a float switch can catch on the wall or on the cable and stop switching on. The built in compact float switch ensures this will not happen witht the RS32EA. Electrical safety The plug connection must stay dry. Connect the pump to a supply fitted with a residual current device, and keep the plug and socket connection out of the wet area entirely. Switch off at the socket before handling the pump. Frequently asked questions How low will it pump? The automatic floats stops at 25mm, because that is the built in switch-off level. It is a sump and chamber pump rather than a floor-drying pump. If your job is getting a floor walkable, a puddle sucker that clears to 1mm or 2mm is the right tool, and this is the wrong one. Why 32mm hose rather than 25mm? Because the outlet is 32mm, and reducing it down to 25mm would throttle the pump. At around 100 litres a minute the 32mm bore costs you under 2m of head across the 10m supplied. Put that flow through 25mm and you would lose several times as much. Will it fit my chamber? The body is 160 × 170 × 295mm. Measure the opening rather than the chamber, because a cover frame or a benching is usually what stops a pump going in. If it is tighter than that, the BPS100EA kit is 26mm narrower and 45mm shorter. Can I leave it in permanently? Yes, and with an automatic float and a built-in anti-airlock valve that is a sensible way to use it. Keep the plug connection dry and out of the chamber, and check it a couple of times a year. Does it need a non-return valve? It has an integral anti-airlock valve, so the column of water in the hose does not run back into the sump and re-trigger the automatic switch. Is a hose tail included? Yes, with the pump, along with the 10m of 32mm hose and a clip in the kit. There is nothing else to buy.
