About Kivanga Estate Kivanga Estate is located in Embu County in central Kenya, situated at the foot of Mt. Kenya — the second highest peak in Africa (only Kilimanjaro is higher!). Morris Njagi manages this large estate, which operates its own washing station and factory. Various landholders drop their cherries here and the factory sorts, pulps, ferments, washes, and dries them into beautiful green coffee beans ready to be exported across the world. Kivanga Estate has partnered with Kamavindi Coffee for over 10 years under the Kushikamana (‘connected’ in Swahili) Project. The project’s purpose is not only improving the coffee quality, but also working to find quality-focused international buyers. Kamavindi Coffee is a family-run business started in the 1950s, so they have tons of experience in the Kenyan coffee scene. They operate a training center and cupping lab, which is vital to the success of the Kushikamana Project. Producing exceptional coffee isn’t easy, but when you are connected to resources like Kamavindi where you can get feedback to improve, coffee farmers have the opportunity to grow — literally and figuratively! These lasting relationships have paid off in the form of a beautiful Kenyan coffee. It's got a deep currant-like quality that’s paired with a punchy citrus vibe and a hint of floral spice.
