Black Lentils - Organic
About Black beluga lentils are straight up goodness and a vegetarian favourite. These yummy, nutty and slightly earthy lentils are relatively fast-cooking and require no pre-soaking, which is a great quality when wanting to quickly whip up something nutritious and delicious. Black beluga lentils will readily absorb the flavours of other ingredients they are cooked with, making them super versatile and the end product super delicious. They tend to hold their shape well during cooking, therefore make a great addition to salads and pilafs. Uses To cook dried black beluga lentils, put a 1:4 ratio of lentils to boiling water in a pot, cover and simmer until tender, which tends to take about 20-25 minutes. Once cooked, black lentils can be made into delicious veggie burger patties or added to meat patties to fill them out. Because of their amazing ability to absorb surrounding flavours during cooking, black lentils are a great meat substitute because they become super tasty and provide the heartiness you might otherwise get from meat. Try them out in a shepherd’s pie with an abundance of spices and vegetables, or more simply add them to salads or wraps alongside some fresh greens and roasted veggies.
