Life Cycle Initiative Progress Report 2024
The Annual Report highlights the Life Cycle Initiative’s 2024 achievements in advancing life cycle thinking worldwide. A major milestone was the launch of GLAM 1.0—the first global guidance for life cycle impact assessment methods—setting a new standard for consistency and transparency in sustainability assessments. The Initiative also released a Policymakers’ Guide to LCA and strengthened tools like GLAD and USEtox. Practical application of life-cycle approaches expanded through targeted work in sectors such as textiles (via the InTex India project), plastics (capacity building in Thailand), buildings (whole life cycle policy recommendations), and mining (guidance on energy transition minerals). Looking ahead to 2025, the Initiative will deepen its work to advance a global framework for Digital Product Information Systems, launch USEtox 3 for broader use in chemicals management, advance on the Biogenic Carbon project, among many other planned activities. Explore 2024’s successes and get a sneak peek into 2025’s activities to come in the 2024 Annual Report.
