JEAN-MAX ROGER SANCERRE CUVEE LES CAILLOTTES 2025
Caillottes are the shallow, stony limestone soils that give this cuvée its name — pale pebbles over south-facing slopes in Bué, Amigny and Sancerre that drain hard and push Sauvignon Blanc toward tension. Jean-Max Roger works 28 hectares here with sons Etienne and Thibault, pressing the fruit immediately, fermenting long and cool on native yeasts, then holding the wine on heavy lees until spring. Grapefruit, lemon and rhubarb lead, hawthorn floating above them, and the palate lands dense and firm before acidity cuts through to a long, stony finish.
