Omega Constellation Ref. 2852 / 2853 SC – The Black Dial Chronometer (1958) Introduced in 1952, the Omega Constellation quickly established itself as the manufacture's flagship chronometer and Omega's answer to the Rolex Datejust. Combining chronometer-certified precision with timeless design, it remains one of the most celebrated dress watch collections ever produced. This Ref. 2852 / 2853 SC from 1958 is a particularly striking example. Its beautifully proportioned 35 mm 18k yellow gold case, crafted by Antoine Gerlach SA, is paired with a highly desirable black crosshair dial, a configuration that is considerably rarer than its silver counterparts. The warm yellow gold case contrasts beautifully with the deep black dial, while the applied button hour markers, elegant dauphine hands, and original Omega-signed crystal create a sophisticated and highly balanced design. Inside beats the renowned Omega Cal. 505, one of Omega's finest early automatic chronometer movements. Celebrated for its reliability, precision, and smooth bumper-free automatic winding, it represents the golden era of Omega's in-house movement production. Adding even more collector appeal, this watch is accompanied by its original Omega Certificate, documenting its first sale in Germany in 1964, a wonderful piece of provenance that is rarely preserved after more than six decades. Elegant, mechanically outstanding, and increasingly difficult to find with an original black dial, this Constellation Ref. 2852 / 2853 SC is a wonderful example of why the early Constellations remain among the most sought-after vintage Omegas. - wrist size in our picture is 18cm circumference - DIAL: original never touched black dial with crosshair layout in great original hands & Omega crown original Omega crystal with logo in the center STRAP & BUCKLE: Matte black GOLDAMMER Kardinal leather strap fitting up to 21 cm wrist size / 2 mm thick gold plated GOLDAMMER buckle CASE: excellent overall condition, showing very minor traces of wear 3- body 18k yellow gold case with screw-down case back from casemaker Antoine Gerlach SA 35 mm (without crown) / 45 mm (lug-to-lug) / 18 mm (between lugs) / 10.7 mm thick year: 1958 reference: 2852 / 2853 SC total weight: 49 g MOVEMENT: Omega Caliber 505 - automatic chronometer 24 jewels, 19800 A/h, 50 hours power reserve professionally serviced 07/2026 +2 sec/d / 280° BOX & PAPERS: original Omega certificate from purchase 1964 in Germany GOLDAMMER certificate of authenticity & service documentation card GOLDAMMER box
