Claudia Luna Fuentes (Monclova, Coahuila, 1969) is a member of Mexico’s National System of Art Creators (SNCA). Among her publications are Donde la piel (Mantis Editores and Conarte, Mexico, 2019) and Carne para las flores, Antología personal (Aullido libros, Spain, 2010). Her work has also appeared in the Anuario de poesía mexicana 2006 (FCE, Mexico), among other anthologies. Selections of her poetry have been translated into Arabic, English,French, German, and Polish. Invoking the favor of her tutelary goddess Emily Dickinson, Claudia Luna Fuentes embarks on a vibrant journey through her life, highlighting both that “the deepest thing is the skin” and that, in poetry, parallel lines indeed touch: in the infinite web of relationships that unites everyone with everything. Thus certain incidents from Emily’s life are revived, mutatis mutandis, in the moving strokes of Where the Skin, but both poets carry an authentic feeling of the sacred in the human; both feel “that love is life, and life is immortality.” José Luis Rivas
