Jogakbo inspired minimal waste dress
Jogakbo inspired minimal waste dress with sash and dorset button (recycled cotton) This collaborative project between myself and Cindy Yunha Jang draws on our shared experience of growing up as Korean diaspora in Aotearoa. During a trip to Korea in 2025 we shared many conversations trying to unpack the complex histories of our cultural homeland and the place it holds in our personal experiences and identities as tangata Tiriti in Aotearoa. In 광주 Gwangju we made a video work that took place in a river that runs underneath a market (this video will be debuted in this show). In the developing language of our collaboration, this symbol of water running hidden underground has become a potent metaphor for the intangible parts of the human experience: spiritual, emotional, and cultural dimensions that tie us to our ancestors and those to come in the future. This symbol is echoed in at Silo 6, where the ocean surges underneath the reclaimed land of the viaduct. Materials:Recycled cotton Size:O/S Handcrafted in Ōtautahi, Aotearoa
