May’s Lettuce Collection

Make the most of the weather and tuck a little lettuce in any spare space. Lettuces come in a fantastic range varieties, and this little collection brings you three real treats to enjoy. Sow now for a summer of fresh leafy flavour… different tastes, lovely textures, and that unbeatable just-picked freshness! And don’t forget… sow a pinch at a time every week or so and you’ll keep those stunning salads coming! Barba Dei Frati – so much more than just a lettuce. Barba Dei Frati grows dark green tufts of long-lobed leaves that you can cut as a bunch from individual plants. Not just for salads either! This is a cookable lettuce…toss it in olive oil and roast it or wilt it gently in a pan for a warm salad. Lollo Rosso – lovely long, ruffled leaves that are tender and tasty. It adds a real wallop of colour to your plate, with deep bronze edges fading into green centres. Grow it as a cut-&-come-again and you can get up to three cuts from each plant. May King – a proper ‘must have’ for this month. The weather now suit it perfectly. A gorgeous butterhead with those slightly pink-tinged inner leaves. Tender, sweet, and a real star 🌱 Sow little and often… it really is the secret!
